Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed on Thursday that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again demonstrated that for Bharat, the life and safety of every Indian citizen, whether on land or at sea, remain a non-negotiable national priority.
In an official press note, the State Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge N.V. Subash said: “Prime Minister’s direct intervention with US President Donald Trump on the safety of Indian seafarers reflects the confidence and global stature Bharat enjoys today.”
“Unlike governments of the past, Bharat today raises issues affecting Indians directly at the highest international platforms. Prime Minister Modi conveyed India’s concerns face-to-face and sought assurances on freedom of navigation and the safety of lakhs of seafarers who contribute immensely to global commerce,” Subash said.
He stated that India is not merely speaking for its own citizens but is also championing the larger cause of global maritime security.
“Secure sea lanes are vital for international trade, uninterrupted energy supplies and global economic stability. Any disruption has far-reaching consequences for nations across the world,” he said.
Referring to the tragic loss of three Indian sailors in a recent US strike, Subash said the incident serves as a reminder that civilian lives and commercial shipping must never become collateral damage in geopolitical conflicts.
He reiterated that India firmly supports peace, dialogue and diplomacy in West Asia, stressing that sustainable solutions can emerge only through international cooperation and respect for human life.
“As a leading maritime nation with lakhs of Indians serving across global shipping routes, Bharat will continue to champion the protection of seafarers. Safeguarding their lives is both a national responsibility and an international obligation that India will pursue with unwavering commitment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he added.
