New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the people of Assam on Monday for a “historic hat-trick mandate”, terming it a strong endorsement of the tireless efforts by the NDA government over the last 10 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to build a secure, peaceful, and progressive state.
“This boundless affection and cooperation are strengthening our resolve to deliver even better services to you and fulfil your hopes and aspirations,” Shah said in a post on X.
This consistent third major victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Assam is a testament to the people’s unwavering trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “double-engine” government under the leadership of Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma that has transformed Assam from a land of unrest to a land of hope and development, the home minister said.
In a post on X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the BJP’s “historic” victory in West Bengal is the result of the sacrifices and struggles of countless party workers whose families endured violence but never abandoned the saffron flag.
“In this arduous journey of the BJP from zero to a resounding majority today, I bow to all those workers who offered their lives, endured violence, suffered torture, and yet never wavered from the path of ideology — and to their families. The people of Bengal have paid tribute to all those martyred BJP workers through this resounding majority,” he said.
Targeting the TMC, Shah accused it of indulging in appeasement politics.
“The people of Bengal have taught such a lesson to infiltrators and their sympathisers that parties indulging in appeasement politics will never be able to forget it. With the hopes and aspirations with which Bengal has expressed its trust in the leadership of Modi ji, we will certainly fulfil them,” he said.
In another post, Shah thanked the people of Assam for a historic hat-trick mandate, calling it a resounding endorsement of the Modi-led NDA government’s “10-year-long tireless efforts to build a secure, peaceful and progressive Assam”.
“Your overwhelming affection and support strengthen our pledge to serve you better and fulfil your aspirations,” he said.
BJP president Nitin Nabin said the party’s victory in the West Bengal and Assam polls reflects progress and good governance under Modi’s leadership.
“This sacred land of great personalities is now set to witness a new era of peace, prosperity and good governance. This historic victory is an indelible symbol of reclaiming West Bengal’s identity, its great culture and its lost pride,” he said.
“Under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, we are fully committed to realising the resolve to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ and ensuring all-round development of the state,” he added.
In another post, Nabin congratulated the people of Assam for expressing their “unwavering faith” in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for a third consecutive term.
Union minister Kiren Rijiju took a swipe at opposition parties, alleging that they had earlier opposed the interests of women.
“Reminds me of the sin committed by Congress, TMC, DMK, and SP by voting against the women of India,” he said in a post on X.
Senior BJP leader and MP Ravi Shankar Prasad congratulated the party workers, saying the victory is the result of their tireless efforts.
“Today’s historic day is an emotional and proud moment because the blooming of the lotus in the birthplace of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee is not just a political victory, but a triumph of the people’s faith in the BJP’s ideology. This mandate is a victory of development, good governance, and the spirit of ‘Nation First’ over appeasement, corruption and fear,” he said in a post on X.
Prasad gave credit to the party’s top leadership for the victory and said it would further strengthen the resolve of a “developed India” by 2047.
Union minister Giriraj Singh described the poll outcome as a victory of trust over fear. “Fear is defeated and trust has won in Modi,” he said.
BJP chief spokesperson Anil Baluni said the mandate is not merely for forming governments but a message for building a strong, secure, and self-reliant West Bengal and Assam.
“A wind of change now blows across West Bengal. The people have delivered a resounding response to the politics of fear, appeasement, and oppression by endorsing the BJP’s agenda of development, good governance and nationalism,” he said in a post on X.
BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh said the people of West Bengal have rejected appeasement and corruption in favour of development and national interest.
“This victory is a testament to the unwavering faith of the people in the visionary leadership and welfare policies of the Prime Minister,” he said.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said the poll results have exposed “deep cracks” in the INDIA opposition bloc and claimed that the alliance has “completely broken”.
“The biggest takeaway of this election is that the ‘INDI’ alliance has completely broken and vanished. Rahul Gandhi has failed to lead the alliance. It was shown in the entire election that Rahul Gandhi failed to handle the ‘INDI’ alliance,” he said in a post on X.
Another BJP general secretary, Vinod Tawde, thanked the people of West Bengal for voting for the party.
“Where (Syama Prasad) Mookerjee was born, that Bengal is ours. Heartiest congratulations to the people of Bengal for giving a historic mandate to the BJP in the West Bengal Assembly elections,” he said in a post on X.
