Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced the launch of a 10-day ‘Praja Palana’ program across the state starting from September 17. This initiative aims to distribute new Ration Cards and Health Cards to eligible citizens, with a major policy shift—ration and health cards will now be issued separately. The CM has instructed officials to gather detailed data of every family during this period and ensure the smooth conduct of the program in all villages and wards.
During a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, attended by Health Minister Damodara Raja Narsimha, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Principal Secretary of Health Dr. Christina Chongtoo, Principal Secretary of Municipal Department Dana Kishore, and Principal Secretary to the CM Seshadri, Reddy outlined the program’s objectives. He emphasized the need for the Medical and Health Department to finalize the procedures for issuing digital health cards, organize health camps in rural areas, and collaborate with state laboratories for comprehensive health profiling of citizens.
The CM also highlighted insights gained from his recent foreign visit, where he learned about France’s effective digital health card system. He urged officials to study and adapt France’s policy framework to improve the state’s digital health card issuance process. Moving forward, only health cards issued by the state government will be valid for medical treatments under Rajiv Arogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
Strict Measures to Combat Seasonal Diseases: Revanth Reddy expressed serious concern over the increasing cases of Dengue, Chikungunya, and other viral fevers in the state. He directed health officials to be vigilant and implement effective preventive measures. The CM instructed intensified fogging and spraying activities to control the mosquito population in all towns, villages, and particularly within the Greater Hyderabad limits. He warned of strict action, including suspension, against any officials showing negligence in public health protection.
To curb the spread of seasonal diseases, the CM emphasized coordinated efforts between GHMC, Medical and Health Departments, and district collectors. He also called for active participation from police, voluntary organizations, and media to raise awareness about seasonal diseases. Collectors and Panchayat Raj officials across districts have been tasked with launching a special drive to prevent outbreaks, including regular field visits to assess the situation and address sanitation issues in areas reporting high cases of Dengue and Chikungunya.
Revanth Reddy’s comprehensive approach to public health and welfare through the ‘Praja Palana’ program demonstrates a focused effort to enhance citizen services and mitigate health risks across the state.
