Thiruvananthapuram: Virat Kohli scored his 55th ODI century, and Shubman Gill made 110 as India crushed the West Indies by eight wickets in the first match to take a 1-0 lead here on Sunday.
Kohli completed his 15,000 ODI runs during his record-extending century and remained unbeaten on 139 off only 88 balls (10 fours, 9 sixes) as India scored 300/2 in 41.4 overs in reply to the West Indies’ 295/7.
India’s chase was also spruced up by a 10th ODI hundred from skipper Gill, who scored 110 off 108 balls with 13 fours and a six.
But even Greaves will not complain about that after remaining a reverent student during India’s innings, watching a GOAT and another batter looking to attain that status working in tandem.
Here’s a quick look at the stats: Gill crunched his 10th ODI hundred and Kohli steamrolled Windies for his 55th ton, and 86th in international cricket.
Additionally, Kohli also became the second batter in history to register 15000 runs in one-dayers after Sachin Tendulkar. BRIEF SCORE:
West Indies: 295/7 in 50 overs (John Campbell 62, Justin Greaves 101; Kuldeep Yadav 4/40).
India: 300/2 in 41.4 overs (Rohit Sharma 32, Shubman Gill 110, Virat Kohli 139 not out; Roston Chase 1/64).
