Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) today announced the preparation and rollout of its 12th consecutive Annual Domestic Cricket Calendar, aimed at systematic preparation of Telangana State teams for participation in the BCCI Domestic Tournaments for the 2026–27 season.
According to the General Secretary of TCA, this initiative is in line with the BCCI directive dated July 11, 2021, which emphasised coordination in game promotion and transparent selection of state teams from districts. In light of the continued non-compliance by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) with these directives, TCA has resolved to independently organise and field Telangana State teams for the upcoming domestic season, ensuring that the sporting interests of Telangana cricketers are not compromised.
He said, the calendar has been meticulously designed to align all tournaments, selection procedures and playing conditions strictly within the BCCI framework, reflecting TCA’s unwavering intent to participate in the BCCI Domestic Season 2026–27. At the same time, TCA remains hopeful that the BCCI will intervene and resolve the long-pending affiliation matter well before the official release of the BCCI Domestic Calendar, enabling seamless national-level participation.
Through this structured and inclusive calendar, TCA reaffirms its core commitments:
- Upholding transparency and merit-based selection
- Developing top-class cricketing infrastructure across Telangana
- Protecting the constitutional and sporting rights of Telangana cricketers
The primary objectives of the 2026–27 calendar, Guruva Reddy said, are to ensure systematic talent identification, maintain uniformity with BCCI tournament structures, and provide sustained competitive exposure to cricketers progressing from district to inter-district and ultimately state-level representation. A strong emphasis has been placed on grass-roots development, with district-level league cricket planned across all BCCI age-group categories.
“The calendar will cover all 32 districts of Telangana, excluding Hyderabad city, with the express purpose of strengthening district representation and widening the talent base. By focusing on inclusivity and structured competition, TCA aims to create a clear and credible pathway for aspiring cricketers from the grassroots to the national stage,” he pointed out. TCA reiterates its commitment to building a robust, fair and future-ready cricketing ecosystem for Telangana.
