Kanaskis (Canada): (Jun 18) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said he held “productive” exchanges with G7 leaders on key global challenges and shared aspirations for a better planet.
Modi posted a picture on X on Tuesday with leaders of the seven-nation bloc and those invited to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada.
“Together for global progress! Productive exchanges with G7 leaders on key global challenges and shared aspirations for a better planet,” he said in the post.
PM Modi met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for the first time since her recent election win. The two leaders discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in areas including trade, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, digital innovation, and development priorities of the Global South.
“Boosting India-Mexico warm and historical ties,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, adding, “Both sides discussed avenues to further deepen cooperation and shared perspectives on global and regional issues.”
PM Modi also held a pull-aside meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. The conversation was focused on strategic cooperation and reaffirming the Special Strategic Partnership between India and South Korea.
In a separate meeting, PM Modi met with the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, marking their first official interaction since Merz assumed office in May 2025. PM Modi congratulated the Chancellor on his electoral victory and thanked him for Germany’s condolences over the recent tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the strong momentum in India-Germany relations and discussed deepening strategic cooperation across trade, investment, green energy, defence, education, mobility and innovation. They also reviewed progress on the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership.
