Revanth Reddy lays foundation stone for Hare Krishna Heritage Tower

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Harekrishna Heritage Tower in the city on Sunday, marking what he described as a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Expressing his gratitude for being part of this significant event, he noted the immense honor of serving as the chief guest on such an occasion.

In his address, Reddy highlighted that the Heritage Tower, set to rise to a towering height of 430 feet, will offer spiritual teachings amidst the urban landscape, becoming a symbol of pride for Telangana. The construction of this landmark is expected to be completed within 36 to 40 months, with Reddy expressing his intent to personally inaugurate the new building. He hailed this event as a momentous chapter in the state’s history.

Reflecting on the legacy of Hyderabad, Reddy recalled how the Nizam rulers developed the city as a “Lake City” a century ago. He lamented the current state of some farmhouses built for luxury near these lakes and ponds, which have historically quenched the thirst of millions. These farmhouses now discharge wastewater into Gandipet and Himayat Sagar, reservoirs that provide drinking water to the city.

Reddy stressed the responsibility of elected representatives to safeguard these water bodies, which led to the government’s initiative to protect the lakes from encroachments through HYDRAA. Drawing inspiration from Lord Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna during the Kurukshetra battle, he declared the government’s resolve to combat encroachments, emphasizing that this is not a political agenda but a commitment to securing a better future for generations to come. He vowed not to bow to any pressure, promising strict action against those who encroach on these vital resources.

“Our government upholds righteousness in the spirit of Lord Krishna’s teachings,” Reddy affirmed. He also reiterated his administration’s prioritization of education and healthcare, urging the Hare Krishna Foundation to extend their food distribution services to hospitals such as Osmania, Gandhi, NIMS, and cancer care facilities. The government, he assured, will provide all necessary support for this noble cause.
