New Delhi: Fitness startup FITTR on Friday said that cricketer Rohit Sharma has joined the company as an investor and equity partner by investing an undisclosed amount.

Sharma began his association with FITTR as its first brand ambassador.

“…Rohit found strong alignment with his personal values and strategic outlook, making the move from ambassador to investor and equity partner a natural progression,” the company stated.

In a statement, Fittr said Sharma spent several months evaluating Fittr’s mission, business fundamentals and long-term growth strategy before deciding to transition from ambassador to investor.

Notably, Sharma began endorsing the startup in 2024.

Founded in 2016 by Jitendra Chouksey, Bala Krishna Reddy, Rohit Chattopadhyay, and Jyoti Dabas, Fittr offers online health and fitness communities and platforms.

Its platform claims to have helped more than 4 Lakh users through a network of over 700 coaches, while its broader community exceeds 30 Lakh users globally.

To date, Fittr has raised nearly $17 Mn in funding from investors like Rainmatter, Peak XV’s Surge, Elysian Park Ventures, among others. Notably, it is also endorsed and backed by actor Sunil Shetty.

The startup competes with platforms such as Healthify and Cult. Fit, FitBudd, and MyFitnessPal, among others.

On the financial front, Fittr reported revenue of ₹128 Cr and a profit before tax (PBT) of ₹11 Cr in FY25. Its online fitness coaching business accounted for about ₹122 Cr of the startup’s total revenue during the year.

India’s health and fitness sector continues to expand rapidly, with the market expected to grow from Rs 16,200 Cr ($1.9 Bn) to Rs 37,700 Cr ($4.5 Bn) by 2030 amid rising wellness spending.

To note, Indian celebrities have been known to double down on the country’s startup ecosystem from time to time, with such investments making headlines regularly.

For instance, earlier this month, D2C kids lifestyle brand Rosada onboarded actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra as a strategic investor. Before that Agilitas Sports brought on board Anushka Sharma as an investor and strategic collaborator, while jewellery brand GIVA roped in Kriti Sanon as both an investor and brand ambassador.

Other celebrity-backed startup investments this year include Ajinkya Rahane backing footwear brand Chupps and Riyan Parag investing in deeptech startup Proxgy.
