Kishan Reddy Launches Nand Ghars

Hyderabad:: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday inaugurated 36 Nand Ghar centres in Hyderabad, marking a significant push towards strengthening grassroots welfare systems in Telangana. The initiative, led by Vedanta Limited, aims to modernise the anganwadi ecosystem with tech-enabled centres offering integrated services such as nutrition, early childhood education, primary healthcare and women empowerment.

With this rollout, the Nand Ghar programme expands its footprint in southern India, adding Telangana to its presence in neighbouring Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The move is expected to enhance access to essential services for nearly 3,000 women and children in the district.

During his visit to an anganwadi centre in Sanathnagar, the Minister reviewed key services including child care, nutrition and maternal health. He also interacted with children, mothers and staff, distributing stationery kits and nutritional supplements. In a message shared later, he stressed the need to strengthen grassroots systems to ensure holistic child development.

The centres are designed to provide a comprehensive support system, combining education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities under one roof. Officials said the initiative reflects a broader effort to create scalable and sustainable models for community development.

Shashi Arora, CEO of Nand Ghar, said the programme aims to ensure every child gets a strong start in life while empowering women through skill-building and economic opportunities. He highlighted that partnerships between government and private institutions are key to expanding such impact-driven initiatives.

Currently, the Nand Ghar network spans over 12,700 centres across India. The programme ultimately aims to transform 14 lakh anganwadis nationwide, targeting improved outcomes for millions of children and women through better nutrition, education and community support systems.
