Ishan Kishan Celebrates India Comeback With 33-Ball Century, Breaks Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Record

Ahmedabad: Ishan Kishan finished as the highest run-getter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and his super form with the bat helped him earn a place in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad. The left-handed batter from Patna celebrated his India comeback after more than two years on Wednesday (December 24) by playing another super knock with the bat. In Jharkhand’s first match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ishan came out to bat at No. 6 and slammed 125 runs from just 39 balls.

Ishan completed his century in 33 balls, which helped him break the record of scoring the second-fastest century in List A cricket by an Indian batter.

During his stay at the crease on Wednesday, Ishan slammed 7 fours and 14 sixes against Karnataka and helped Jharkhand post a total of 412/9 at Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘B’ in Ahmedabad.

The record of scoring the fastest century in List A matches by an Indian batter is in the name of Bihar’s Sakibul Gani.

Gani needed just 32 balls on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) to complete his century against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi.

14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is fourth on the list now. The left-handed batter from Bihar scored a century in 36 balls on Wednesday morning against Arunachal Pradesh.

The world record for scoring the fastest century in List A cricket is in the name of Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk. Fraser-McGurk needed just 29 balls to complete his century for South Australia against Tasmania in Adelaide on October
