Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has welcomed the Congress-led Opposition’s decision to participate in the 16-hour-long debate on Operation Sindoor, set to begin Monday, but expressed caution over their intentions.
State BJP Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge, N.V. Subhash, said the party views this as a welcome, though belated, step. “Better late than never,” he remarked, adding that wiser counsel appears to have finally prevailed upon the Opposition.
“Protecting national interests is a shared responsibility. The Opposition is well within its rights to seek clarifications—but only if it ensures that both Houses function without disruption,” he said.
Subhash reiterated that the Modi-led NDA government has never shied away from a discussion and has already placed all facts in the public domain. What’s regrettable, he said, is the Congress’s willingness to give weight to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s inconsistent and bizarre claims—about “brokered peace” and downed fighter jets—while choosing to cast doubt on the Indian armed forces and the Prime Minister.
‘’Trump himself couldn’t clarify which country lost how many jets. Yet Congress seems more inclined to trust him than India’s institutions,” Subhash noted.
He drew a contrast with the past, recalling how Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1971 rose above party lines to praise Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after India’s victory in the Bangladesh Liberation War. “That kind of statesmanship and patriotism is missing in today’s Congress,” he said.
Subhash further stated, “It is deeply unfortunate that the Opposition today appears more interested in tarnishing India’s image than defending its sovereignty. National interest must rise above petty politics.”
The BJP spokesperson stressed that the government is fully prepared to answer every legitimate question—but expects the Opposition to show responsibility, listen with seriousness, and avoid headline-chasing disruptions.
“If they continue to play to the gallery, it will only confirm their fear of losing upcoming Assembly elections. The people are with the government—they want accountability and strength, not theatre,” he said.
Highlighting India’s assertive military posture under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Subhash said, “India has shown the world—and Pakistan in particular—what decisive leadership means. We’ve demonstrated that strength not once, but thrice in the past three years.”
The BJP believes the upcoming debate is not just about Operation Sindoor, but a litmus test for the Opposition. “Will they face facts with open minds, or continue down the path of denial and disruption? The country is watching,” he said.
