Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has forecasted heat waves for 108 mandals across the state on Wednesday.
“Out of the 108 mandals, 15 in Srikakulam district, 21 in Vizianagaram district, 10 in Parvathipuram Manyam district, and eight in Alluri Sitaramaraju district are likely to experience heatwave conditions,” said APSDMA Managing Director R. Kurmanadh in a release.
Additionally, seven mandals in the Anakapalle and Kakinada districts, three mandals in the Konaseema and Guntur districts, 13 in East Godavari district, five in Eluru district, two in the Krishna district, six in NTR district, and eight in Palnadu district are expected to be affected by the heat waves.
The governments of Andhra Pradesh have a dense weather observation network to continuously monitor temperatures across the state, these data provide the spatial distribution of temperatures in real-time monitoring.
Numerical model temperatures are useful in forecasting heat wave conditions to disseminate the information to all stakeholders.
Since 2016, the Government of AP has adopted a heat wave action plan for monitoring heat wave conditions based on observed temperature data and weather forecast information.
In the past six years, AP has endured heat waves almost every year, and the duration of heat periods is increasing in every part of the state. Data on the daily maximum temperature recorded at AWS stations
