Kejriwal speaks out in court; says ready to face ED probe

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal spoke in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday as the Enforcement Directorate’s seven-day came to an end, he directly addressed the room and accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting “to crush” his party.

Kejriwal, arrested by the ED on March 15 in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam, emphasized that no court has proven him guilty.

He also said that he is ready to face the ED probe.

“I was arrested… but no court has proved me guilty. The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has filed 31,000 pages (of chargesheets) and ED filed 25,000 pages. Even if you read them together… the question remains… why have I been arrested?” Mr Kejriwal asked the court.

“This is a political conspiracy. The people will give an answer,” Kejriwal had told reporters as he entered the courtroom.

He is being produced before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja.

AAP ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai and Saurabh Bharadwaj along with the chief minister’s wife Sunita Kejriwal were inside the court.

Court sources said the ED is likely to seek an extension of the chief minister’s custodial remand.
