Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Unveils “One State – One Digital Card” Initiative

Hyderabad: In a significant move towards digitization and streamlined access to welfare benefits, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has proposed the introduction of a unified “One State – One Digital Card” for every family in the state. This all-in-one card will serve multiple purposes, including availing healthcare services, ration, and other state-sponsored welfare schemes.

The Chief Minister conducted a high-level review meeting on Monday with senior officials from the Medical and Health, and Civil Supplies departments at his residence. During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for a comprehensive study on the effectiveness of such digital family cards, already in use in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka. He tasked officials with presenting a detailed report outlining both the benefits and potential challenges of implementing this system in Telangana.

To kickstart the initiative, the CM suggested selecting one urban area and one village from each Assembly constituency to pilot the family digital card scheme. This pilot project will enable authorities to assess the card’s efficacy and refine the process before statewide implementation. CM Revanth Reddy stressed that the card must ensure easy access to all welfare schemes, including healthcare services and ration supplies, with the added benefit of maintaining each family member’s health profile. The health data stored on these cards would prove invaluable for providing timely medical services in the future.

In addition to seamless access to services, the digital card will allow for updates, such as adding or removing family members’ details over time. The Chief Minister also instructed the establishment of a robust monitoring mechanism at the district level to oversee the digital card system’s operation and ensure smooth functionality.

Key ministers and officials, including N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodara Rajanarasimha, State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, Secretaries Chandrasekhar Reddy and Sangeeta Satyanarayana, Civil Supplies Commissioner Dr. DS Chauhan, and Health Department Secretary Christina Z Chongthu, were present during the meeting.

This initiative marks a bold step forward in Telangana’s digital governance, aiming to simplify access to welfare services while enhancing efficiency and transparency across multiple sectors.
