Revanth displays the spirit of federalism, winds up Delhi visit

New Delhi:  Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is tackling issues that have been pending in Telangana for the last decade. He embarked on a tour of Delhi, aiming to safeguard the interests of Telangana. Over the past four days, the CM met with four Union ministers and attended the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Telangana MPs in the Lok Sabha. Despite the Congress party’s arch-rival BJP being in power at the center, CM Revanth Reddy displayed a spirit of federalism by holding meetings with Union ministers, demonstrating his commitment to addressing state issues through consultation.

Development of Hyderabad: On Monday, the first day of his visit to Delhi, CM Revanth Reddy met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The CM requested the transfer of defense lands to the state government for road expansion, skyway construction, and other infrastructure projects in Hyderabad. Shortly after assuming office, Revanth Reddy succeeded in securing the transfer of necessary defense lands for elevated corridors in the city. The Defense Minister approved the transfer of lands in several areas, and the CM has already laid the foundation stones for these projects. Additionally, the CM appealed for another 2,450 acres of defense land to support further road widening and infrastructure development.

Later, CM Revanth Reddy met with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He highlighted the state government’s “Indiramma Housing” scheme aimed at providing homes for every poor person in the state. The CM requested the sanction of 2.70 lakh houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Urban) – PMAY (U) scheme and appealed for the release of Rs. 784.88 crore in pending dues to Telangana under the PMAY (U).

Musi Riverfront Development and Metro Rail: The Musi River, once a lifeline for Hyderabad, has become heavily polluted. The CM is committed to the river’s rejuvenation and has studied the Thames Riverfront project in London for inspiration. He requested central assistance for the Musi riverfront development and metro rail expansion in Hyderabad, particularly through the Old City.

Warangal and Khammam Issues: The CM discussed issues faced by Warangal and Karimnagar with Union Minister Khattar, particularly the incomplete works under the Smart City Mission. He pleaded for an extension of the mission’s timeline to complete the pending projects.

Clearing NHM Pending Dues: The CM met with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, emphasizing the state’s efforts to strengthen its health sector. He appealed for the release of Rs. 693.13 crore in pending dues under the National Health Mission (NHM) to ensure uninterrupted health services in Telangana.

Attending MPs Oath Taking Ceremony: CM Reddy attended the oath-taking ceremony of MPs in the Lok Sabha, urging them to fight for Telangana’s interests regardless of party affiliation. He encouraged them to prioritize state interests over political conflicts and use Parliament as a platform to address these issues.

National Highways and Infrastructure Projects: The CM addressed the lag in national highway construction and approvals in Telangana. He held a marathon meeting with Union Minister of Road Transport and National Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Wednesday. The CM requested the declaration of the Choutuppal to Amangal-Shadnagar-Sangareddy road (181.87 km) as a National Highway, similar to the northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR). He also appealed for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) to be upgraded to a six-lane highway and requested expedited work on the Hyderabad (ORR Gourelli Junction) to Valigonda-Kothagudem road (NH-930P) and Kolhapur-Karivena-Nandyal (NH-167K) highways. Additionally, the CM sought approvals for the widening of the Hyderabad-Kalwakurti (NH 765K) road into four lanes, a four-lane elevated corridor on Hyderabad-Srisailam (NH 765) within the Amrabad Tiger Reserve Forest, the declaration of the Jagityal-Peddapalli-Kataram state highway as a national highway, environmental clearance for the Hyderabad-Manneguda four-lane highway (NH-163), and the sanction of 12 RBOs/RUBs under the Setu Bandhan scheme. The CM requested the strengthening of the national highway network over a 1,617 km stretch in various parts of Telangana.
