Hyderabad: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday to support the illumination project at the historic Charminar in Hyderabad. The signing ceremony took place at NTPC’s office in Kavadiguda, Secunderabad. This initiative is part of NTPC’s efforts to promote and restore India’s iconic landmarks and heritage buildings.

The MOU, signed under the “Swachh Iconic Places Project” of the Government of India as part of NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, focuses on the beautification and development of the Charminar area. NTPC’s Southern Regional Headquarters (SRHQ) is partnering with GHMC to help preserve the ancient heritage of Hyderabad.

The agreement was signed by Shri Akhil Patnaik, AGM (HR) of NTPC SRHQ, and Shri G. Guruveera, Chief Engineer of QQSUDA (Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority), which will oversee the project’s execution on behalf of GHMC.

The project includes architectural lighting from Nayapool to Charminar, Laad Bazaar, the Four Arches, and other nearby iconic locations. Once completed, the initiative will give the historic Charminar a refreshed look, further enhancing its status as the symbol of Hyderabad, the Pearl City.
