Hyderabad: India’s growing dominance in the global poultry sector was on full display at the 17th Poultry India Expo 2025, which concluded in Hyderabad after registering its highest-ever participation and international outreach.
The four-day event, held from November 25 to 28 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre and inaugurated by Telangana Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar Goud and Tummala Nageswara Rao, reaffirmed India’s position as the world’s second-largest egg producer and one of the top four broiler-producing countries. Organised by the Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (IPEMA), the expo continued under its theme “One Nation, One Expo”, showcasing the sector’s expanding footprint in national nutrition, rural incomes and economic growth.
This year’s edition set new records in collaboration and scale, forging partnerships with 16 international poultry associations, over 40 domestic bodies, 18 poultry-focused media organisations, 15 global media outlets and more than 100 digital influencers. These alliances significantly boosted the event’s global visibility and strengthened technology adoption, especially among farmers.
The opening day saw a strong government presence, with Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar Goud and Tummala Nageswara Rao reiterating the state’s support for sustainable growth, rural market development and modernisation of the sector. On Poultry Knowledge Day, Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari interacted with industry leaders, offering policy direction and encouraging future-focused transformation.
BJP MP Dr. K. Laxman, who visited the expo, said India’s achievements—ranking No. 2 in egg production and No. 4 in chicken production—reflect national pride. He highlighted the Union government’s campaigns to promote egg consumption to combat malnutrition and emphasised subsidy support under the National Livestock Mission.
The expo’s scale was unmatched, hosting more than 500 exhibitors from over 50 countries across seven state-of-the-art halls spread over 35,000 sq. metres. Over 50,000 visitors attended, witnessing live demonstrations of advancements in breeding, genetics, hatchery automation, feed milling, climate control, veterinary diagnostics, sustainable egg processing, manure management and green technologies. Sessions also tackled pressing challenges such as emerging diseases, sustainability models, price volatility and the integration of smart technologies.
At the valedictory session, Poultry India President Uday Singh Bayas expressed gratitude to the Telangana government for its continued support. He urged authorities to ease certain regulatory norms, including the 40-foot road access requirement and HMDA restrictions, to facilitate the establishment of new poultry units. Bayas said Telangana could become India’s leading poultry hub if it adopts power subsidy structures similar to those in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
He also encouraged the youth to embrace new-age technologies transforming the sector, noting that innovation and modern practices would ensure higher productivity and profitability.
Aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the expo brought together farmers, veterinarians, researchers, entrepreneurs and students—marking what organisers described as the beginning of a new phase in India’s poultry-driven economic progress.
