The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has hit back strongly against what it calls a “false narrative” propagated by Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) members trying to portray the scandal-ridden body as reformable.

TCA General Secretary, in a statement to Orange News9, said HCA is “beyond repair” and must be replaced, not revived — urging the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to act as it did in Rajasthan and Bihar, where failed associations were derecognized.

“The BCCI Constitution has no clause for ‘restructuring.’ A member is either compliant or disqualified. HCA lost compliance in 2018 when it ignored the Committee of Administrators’ directive and failed to extend cricket beyond Hyderabad city,” he said.

Reddy pointed out that despite several committees and audits — including two by the Supreme Court and two by the High Court — HCA remains mired in mismanagement and non-compliance. “Even before the Bombay High Court, HCA admitted to violating BCCI norms. That admission alone should have triggered disqualification,” he added.

Accusing HCA of running a “paper-only” district structure, Reddy said: “Most district teams are filled with Hyderabad players. There’s no grassroots network.”

By contrast, he said, TCA has built a transparent, statewide system — with over 60 district coaching camps, turf and matting wickets, and thousands of matches under BCCI formats, involving players from all 33 districts. Match data and scorecards are available on www.tcricket.in.

“HCA can show barely 10% of this work, let alone credible records of activity outside Hyderabad,” he claimed.

Reddy alleged that resistance to TCA stems from “fear of transparency.” “Once TCA is recognized, the pay-to-play culture collapses. We stand for merit, not money,” he asserted.

He said TCA’s growth has come without HCA or BCCI support: “We’ve built academies, maintained grounds, fought over a dozen court cases, and organized 70-plus tournaments — all from our own pockets. Only two events had sponsors.”

Calling on the BCCI to act, Reddy said, “HCA survives like a patient on ventilator support — without compliance or credibility. Telangana’s youth deserve better. Replace HCA, recognise TCA, and truly revive cricket in the State.”
