Hare Krishna Movement Celebrates Panihati Chida-Dahi Festival in City

Hyderabad: The Hare Krishna Movement – Hyderabad joyfully celebrated the spiritually significant Panihati Chida-Dahi Mahotsava, drawing hundreds of devotees from the city and surrounding regions.

Rooted in Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, the festival commemorates Srila Raghunatha Dasa Goswami’s devotional feast of chipped rice and yogurt, originally offered over 500 years ago under the guidance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu at Panihati, West Bengal.

The celebrations began with Japa Yajna, Nagar Sankirtan, and an initiation ceremony. Highlights included a vibrant drama by Gurukul children, a spiritually uplifting discourse (pravachan), and a captivating Boat Festival. A special abhishekam was performed for Sri Nitai Gauranga deities with traditional offerings and Vedic chants.

Addressing the gathering, Sriman Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, President of the Hyderabad chapter, emphasized the festival’s core message: “Serving the Lord’s devotees with humility brings divine blessings and inner peace.”

The event concluded with a grand prasadam feast, leaving devotees immersed in spiritual joy.
