BJP Condemns Stalin Government for Replacing Rupee Symbol with Tamil Script

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to replace the universally recognized Rupee symbol “₹” with the Tamil script “ரூ” in its 2025-26 budget logo. BJP Spokesperson & Media Incharge N.V. Subash called the move an unwarranted act of divisive politics, driven by the DMK’s anti-Hindi and anti-national agenda.

Slamming Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Subash questioned whether he would dare to alter the Rupee symbol on actual currency. “Does the DMK want its own currency? What kind of politics is this?

This blatant disregard for national unity and preference for colonial-era mindsets is unacceptable,” he said.

Subash emphasized that the three-language formula was designed to benefit non-Tamil speakers in Tamil Nadu and across India. He argued that offering students a choice to learn English or Hindi—spoken by millions—should not be politicized. The TN government’s opposition to Hindi disrespects linguistic harmony and undermines national integrity, he added.

He further warned that the people of Tamil Nadu, tired of the DMK’s divisive politics, would deliver a resounding verdict at the ballot box in the upcoming state elections.

“Stalin has crossed all limits with this treacherous act. Tamil Nadu is an integral part of India, and the DMK must not treat it otherwise,” Subash asserted.

The BJP stands firm in condemning this move and urges all nationalist forces to oppose such attempts to sow discord in the country.
