Indian Air Force MiG-29 Crashes; Pilot Safe

Agra: A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Agra during a routine training mission on Monday, following a reported system malfunction. The pilot ejected safely after directing the aircraft away from populated areas, ensuring no damage to life or property on the ground, according to an IAF statement. The IAF has ordered an inquiry to investigate the cause of the incident.

This is the third incident involving IAF aircraft this year. In early September, a MiG-29 on a night training sortie in Rajasthan’s Barmer district experienced a critical technical snag, prompting the pilot to eject. Barmer SP Narendra Meena confirmed no casualties and noted that the crash site was away from residential areas.

Earlier, in June, a Sukhoi-30 MK crashed in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, where both the pilot and co-pilot ejected safely. The aircraft caught fire, which was quickly contained, though debris was spread over a 500-meter radius.
