Hyderabad: Telangana mountaineer Padamati Anvitha successfully scaled Mount Denali (6,190 metres), the highest peak in North America, on June 19, taking a giant step towards completing the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge.
With this achievement, Anvitha has now conquered six of the seven highest peaks across the world’s continents and is on the verge of joining an elite group of Indian women to accomplish the feat.
A seasoned high-altitude climber from Bhongir in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, Anvitha has previously summited Mount Everest, Mount Manaslu, Mount Vinson, Mount Elbrus, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Aconcagua, besides leading expeditions to several prominent Indian peaks.
She also holds the distinction of being the first Indian to reach the true summit of Mount Manaslu and the first Indian to climb Mount Elbrus during winter while unfurling a 10-metre Indian tricolour atop the summit.
Anvitha began her Denali expedition from India on June 3 and entered the mountain on June 7. She climbed alongside her expedition partner, Renata of Argentina, with the two-member team completing the ascent without guides, porters or external logistical support.

The duo independently handled route planning, load carrying and all technical aspects of the expedition, underlining their expertise and self-reliance in extreme high-altitude conditions.
Daughter of Madhu Sudan Reddy and Chandrakala, Anvitha credits her family’s unwavering support for her success and has proudly carried the spirit of Telangana to some of the world’s highest mountains.
Currently associated with Transcend Academy of Rock Climbing, Anvitha trains and mentors aspiring climbers while also leading Everest expeditions under the banner of Transcend Adventures.
Speaking after her latest achievement, Anvitha said carrying the Indian flag to the summit of Denali was a matter of immense pride and dedicated the feat to her family, mentors and supporters.
With six summits now completed, she continues her quest to conquer the final peak and further strengthen India’s presence in the global mountaineering arena.
