Los Aangels: Actors Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt received the prestigious stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the double star ceremony.
The stars are provided to the individuals who have achieved excellence in motion pictures, television, radio, music, or live theatre. Several celebrities have been honoured at the Hollywood Walk of Fame over the years, including Harrison Ford, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Tom Hanks, and Dwayne Johnson, among others.
The actors, who recently worked together in “The Devil Wears Prada 2”, were felicitated on Thursday in Los Angeles. Blunt, who has been previously awarded with SAG, Golden Globe, and BAFTA awards, received the 2,841st star, and Tucci, known for appearing in over 100 films, had the 2,842nd star. The stars are located at 6930 Hollywood Boulevard on the South side of the street.
According to ABC, Meryl Streep, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Dwayne Johnson were among the guest speakers at the event.
Emily also mentioned the importance of the shared space with her brother-in-law, who is married to her sister, Felicity Blunt.
While talking about the honour, Emily said, “I’m so honored to share it with the [Tucci] and my beautiful husband and my beautiful sister and our beautiful kids. It’s just made life heaven. This moment is no exception.”
The actress also quipped about the installation’s permanent status on the well-known promenade.
She added, “Now we’re gonna spend even more time together as people trample over us, but that’s fine.”
Stanley Tucci, who has been in the entertainment industry for over four decades, talked about his bond with Emily, which started when the original 2006 movie was being made.
Stanley started his speech, “I’d like to thank my sister, who is here; my incredible wife; my brother-in-law, John; and what’s her name, whom I absolutely love and adored from the moment I met her when she was 22, when we first made The Devil Wears Prada.”
He added, “It has been an honor and absolutely exhausting to be a part of Hollywood for 45 years, but I wouldn’t have traded it for the world.”
Following Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci’s gratitude speech, their co-stars Meryl Streep, Dwayne Johnson, and Robert Downey Jr., among others, took the podium to thank them.
Meryl Streep, who stars alongside the duo in the new sequel, showered praise on Emily Blunt’s career trajectory and personal character.
Meryl said, “Emily, I feel like I birthed you, really. I’m so proud of you. I can’t wait to work with you again, and the best thing about you getting this at such a tender age is that we’ll have you to kick around for at least 35 years, if my career is any evidence, and I’m just in love with you like everybody else.”
The veteran actress then talked about Stanley and described the global recognition he has achieved.
She said, “You can’t even call Stanley a national treasure anymore because I’ve just been around the world, and truly, the affection hurled at him globally, he’s just marinating in it. … It’s impossible not to love Stanley Tucci. Urbane, sly, funny, bitchy and generous and curious, and so elegant.”
Meryl concluded her speech by stressing on their personal bond over the years.
She said, “I’ve known you longer as a friend than as a scene partner, and we’ve been through some rough times together and some great times. And I love you deeply.”
Emily’s Oppenheimer co-star Matt Damon talked about her and Stanley’s impact on the next generation of performers.
He said, “I just can’t think of two people more deserving to be added to this cultural landmark.”
The actor also expressed his personal admiration for both actors and their families.
Dwayne Johnson shared the screen with Emily in Jungle Cruise and recalled the first impression.
The Rock said, “The one word that I think reflects Emily’s mana and spirit is ‘present’ because she is so deeply present, as I’ve learned over the years.”
