New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said his government is fully committed to furthering inclusive and all-round development of Manipur.
Ahead of his visit to five states, including Manipur from September 13-15, Modi said he will be attending programmes in Churachandpur and Imphal on Saturday.
“We are fully committed to furthering inclusive and all-round development of Manipur. The foundation stone for road projects, National Highway projects, women’s hostels, and more would be laid,” he posted on X.
In a post on X ahead of the visit, Modi said, “I will be attending programmes in Churachandpur and Imphal tomorrow, 13th September. We are fully committed to furthering inclusive and all-around development of Manipur. The foundation stone for road projects, National Highway projects, women’s hostels, and more would be laid. The projects being inaugurated include the Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, the IT SEZ Building, and the New Police Headquarters at Mantripukhri, a unique all-women’s market in various districts.”
According to Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth Rs 8,500 crore during the visit. Of this, more than Rs 7,300 crore will go towards new projects in Churachandpur, while Rs 1,200 crore will be dedicated to completed works in Imphal.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the initiatives align with the government’s goal of “inclusive, sustainable and holistic development” of the state. Among the projects are the new Manipur Police headquarters at Mantripukhri, built at Rs 101 crore, and a civil secretariat in the same locality worth Rs 538 crore. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the drainage and asset management improvement project of Rs 3,647 crore and the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project of Rs 550 crore.
During the visit, Modi will interact with internally displaced people in both Churachandpur and Imphal. He is scheduled to address two public gatherings, one at Peace Ground in Churachandpur and another at Kangla in Imphal.
