Who is responsible for disruption in the Parliament?

Noise and uproar in the Parliament, shouting slogans in the Well, making personal jibes at each other, and sometimes even getting into a scuffle is a common sight in the Parliament today. Why has the behavior of political parties and MPs become so chaotic? Have the vested interests of the parties made the Parliament a joke today? Now the time has come that all our MPs should focus on how parliamentary democracy can be strengthened. Otherwise the public itself will start mocking it. Our MPs should think about what kind of legacy they are leaving behind. Will they let the Parliament collapse under the weight of its decline? We are already seeing what is happening today. It is hoped that the MPs of the country, those who run the Parliament, will soon realize how much hope the citizens of the country look up to them. Also, they are kept as an example on many occasions.

The country is disappointed with what has been happening in Parliament for the last few days. Only by running the Parliament can the government answer the questions of the opposition in a proper manner. In an atmosphere of chaos, MPs do not get a chance to put forward their views. Even a child can understand how one can protest by going into the well and shouting slogans and creating a ruckus and obstructing the proceedings of the House. It will be considered a good thing when you put your questions clearly and the government is able to give clear answers. But what is even more worrying is that obstruction of Parliament proceedings has become the rule rather than the exception, and our politicians have no remorse for it. This decline has come very fast in the last few years. MPs shout at each other, snatch and tear legislative papers, and come to the middle of the House on a small issue. In the last few years, most of the bills have been passed without discussion. This is a misuse of the parliamentary system.

Now the opposition parties and some MPs have ruined the Parliament. It is common to stall the proceedings in both the houses by creating unproductive ruckus over personal agendas. Noise and chaos in the Parliament, shouting slogans in the well, making personal jibes at each other, and sometimes even getting into a scuffle is a common sight in the Parliament today. Why has the behavior of political parties and MPs become so chaotic? Have the vested interests of the parties turned the Parliament into a joke today?

Looking at the attitude of the MPs, it does not seem that they have the intention to allow plans for the development of the country to be made. It seems that the MPs have taken the entire parliamentary democracy hostage. Because the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are shown live on TV these days, the common man of the country also sees everything that is happening in the Parliament every day. After all, what image are the MPs presenting before the people? Just think what image of you is being formed in the minds of the people of the country.

The reason for this decline indeed is that politics has become a game of numbers today, due to which regional satraps exert pressure to get their will done. They not only believe in the politics of bullying but also make the parameter of a successful Parliament session ‘jiski lathi, uski bhains’ (he who has the stick) the key. Today size has become more important than content, due to which scenes like street fights are seen in Parliament. Therefore, in this declining political culture and moral values, parliamentary proceedings do not have content that can influence politics.

Overall, it seems that the Parliament has now become just a scoring club. Many people would know that Rs 2.5 lakhs are spent on one minute of proceedings in the Parliament. Thus, an average of Rs 6 crores is spent on a day’s normal proceedings. The day the proceedings go on for longer, the expenses increase even more. Just think where this money comes from. Obviously, it comes from the pockets of the common people of the country. What could be a bigger joke in democracy than the fact that the proceedings of the Parliament are constantly stalled or there is uproar throughout the day, yet Rs 6 crores are spent in a day? Just think what all can be done with Rs 6 crores. The fortunes of thousands of villages can change with the money spent on one day’s proceedings of the Parliament. Lakhs of poor girls can get married. The fortunes of thousands of youth can improve with small and cottage industries. But the MPs do not think about all this. Even if development plans are not made, personal interests must improve. Have the MPs become above the country?

One more thing: it is not true that all the MPs are rowdy. Those who are serious about work cannot do anything. The question is why do MPs not create an atmosphere every time? Do MPs come only to create a ruckus? MPs have crippled the Lok Sabha. The truth is that the people of democracy, that is, the people of the country, directly elect the Lok Sabha. In such a situation, the indirectly elected House should respect the dignity of the House of the people, that is, the Lok Sabha. It should not happen that every work done in the Lok Sabha is obstructed.

All MPs should be allowed to speak about their constituencies for three minutes each on the fixed days in the Lok Sabha. MPs who repeatedly create a ruckus should be identified, and their list should be publicized. Such rules should be made that any action is automatically taken against an MP who enters the well or waves a pamphlet or creates any other kind of ruckus. Why do some MPs return to the House after walking out? They do this only to show off; they have nothing to do with the development of the country.

They are not able to do anything in the Parliament, and on the other hand, the people of their Lok Sabha constituency are distressed because they are not able to solve their problems. After all, there is only uproar in the Parliament. Therefore, stop the Parliament from becoming an arena. Explain your point of view to the leadership; also, do not blindly follow their every order, right or wrong. It is the first duty of the MPs to protect the dignity of the sacred temple of democracy.

Perhaps these people do not understand the dangerous dimensions of making the Parliament insignificant. Our Parliament is the foundation of our nation, which represents the people and is expected to keep a sovereign watch over our national interests. The government is accountable to the Parliament, and the existence of the government depends on the trust of the Lok Sabha in it. Therefore, the time has come that all our MPs should focus on how the parliamentary democracy can be strengthened. Otherwise, the public itself will start mocking it. Our MPs should think about what kind of legacy they are leaving behind. Will they let the Parliament collapse under the weight of its decline? We are already seeing what is happening today. It is hoped that the country’s MPs and those who run the Parliament soon realize how much hope the citizens of the country have for them. They are also held up as examples on many occasions.
