South Asia’s Largest Poultry Expo Returns to Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The highly anticipated 16th edition of the Poultry India Expo, organized by the Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), is set to take place at HITEX Exhibition Complex, Hyderabad, from November 27-29, 2024.

As South Asia’s largest and most prestigious poultry event, this year’s expo promises to bring together over 400 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and attract over 40,000 visitors, including industry experts, poultry farmers, and government officials.

The event will begin with “Knowledge Day” on November 26th, a premier technical seminar hosted at Hotel Novotel, HICC, here. The seminar, themed “Unlocking Poultry Potential,” will feature 7+ sessions focusing on critical industry topics such as modern poultry production, feed innovations, and animal health. Over 1,500 delegates from 25+ countries are expected to attend, making it a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and networking.

The three-day expo will span 27,500 square meters across six exhibition halls at HITEX, showcasing the latest advancements in poultry management, health, nutrition, and production technologies. Attendees will explore innovations in breeding, pharmaceuticals, and feed technologies, gaining insights into sustainable practices and strategies to drive sector growth.

IPEMA President, Uday Singh Bayas, highlighted the significant role of India’s poultry industry in food security, rural employment, and nutrition. He emphasized the need for urgent government intervention to support the sector, which contributes ₹1.35 lakh crore annually to the economy. Rising input costs, especially for feed ingredients like maize and soya, coupled with GST burdens, have posed challenges for poultry farmers.

Bayas urged the government to implement policies to stabilize prices and reduce costs. Key recommendations include:

  • GST Exemptions: Removal of GST on soya meal and poultry equipment to reduce financial strain on farmers.
  • Priority Sector Lending: Increasing credit access through higher lending thresholds.
  • Vaccine Import Protocols: Fast-tracking approvals to combat animal diseases.
  • School Nutrition Programs: Nationwide support for including eggs in school meals to combat child malnutrition.
  • Export Promotion: Granting “Focus Sector” status to boost poultry exports.

“We are thrilled to welcome the global poultry community to Hyderabad,” said Bayas. “This year’s expo will be a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and new business opportunities. Together, we aim to shape the future of poultry farming with sustainable practices and technological advancements.”

The Poultry India Expo 2024 is poised to be a game-changer, offering industry professionals a platform to address challenges, discover growth opportunities, and strengthen India’s position in the global poultry market.
