New Delhi: In a significant step towards advancing India’s renewable energy and green hydrogen goals, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has inked a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL). The agreement, signed on September 17th, 2024, in Jaipur, aims to develop large-scale green energy and hydrogen projects in Rajasthan, a state known for its solar potential.
The signing ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma. The agreement was exchanged between Sh. Rajiv Gupta, CEO of NGEL, and Sh. Devendra Shringi, CMD of RVUNL, marking a pivotal moment in Rajasthan’s energy landscape. Key dignitaries in attendance included Sh. Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Hon’ble Minister of Medical and Health, Sh. Jogaram Patel, Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Smt. Manju Sharma, Member of Parliament from Jaipur, and Sh. Alok (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary for Energy.
In a symbolic gesture during the event, the Chief Minister also dedicated 160 MW of a 320 MW solar power project located in Bhainsara, Rajasthan, to the nation. This project stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to renewable energy.
The newly-formed JV company is tasked with the development of 25 GW of renewable energy projects and 1 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of green hydrogen and its derivatives in Rajasthan. This ambitious venture aligns with India’s broader vision of transitioning to a cleaner, sustainable energy future and positions Rajasthan as a key player in the green energy revolution.
The collaboration between NGEL and RVUNL not only strengthens Rajasthan’s energy infrastructure but also contributes significantly to India’s overall green energy ambitions, cementing its position on the global map of renewable power.
