Trailer Released for India’s First Single-Shot Hindi Feature Film, 2020 Delhi

Mumbai: The trailer for 2020 Delhi, India’s first single-shot full-length Hindi film, has been released. Directed by Devendra Maalviya, the film explores the 2020 Delhi riots, set against the backdrop of anti-CAA protests and the “Namaste Trump” event during then-U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit.

The story unfolds over February 24, 2020, portraying a day of stark contrasts—celebrations of an international visit juxtaposed with communal violence that claimed 53 lives. The film delves into political conspiracies, societal tensions, and the struggles of ordinary people.

Maalviya highlights the challenges of using a single-shot format, emphasizing the precision required in choreography, acting, and set design. “It immerses the audience, making them feel part of the story,” he explained.

The film also sheds light on the persecution of Hindu minorities in neighboring countries, addressing issues like forced conversions and slavery, while showcasing their hopes of finding refuge in India.

Featuring actors Brijendra Kala, Samar Jai Singh, and others, 2020 Delhi underscores Maalviya’s commitment to impactful, independent storytelling. It exemplifies how determination and creativity can thrive without the support of major studios, inspiring filmmakers nationwide.
