Shri Bhogaon Mata Temple – Jintur

Shri Bhogaon Mata Temple is located in Bhogaon village, under Jintur Taluka of Parbhani District, Maharashtra. Many families have worshipped her for generations as their Kuladevata, maintaining age-old rituals and vows (mannat).

The presiding deity of the temple is Shri Bhogaon Mata, worshipped as the Gram Devata (village guardian goddess) & by many as their Kuladevata. She is a powerful form of Shakti, revered as the divine protector of the village and its people.
Devotees believe that Bhogaon Mata safeguards them from diseases, droughts, natural calamities, and evil forces, and blesses them with health, prosperity, and peace.

According to strong local belief and long-standing oral tradition, Bhogaon Mata is considered the real sister of Mata Tulja Bhavani of Tuljapur, one of the most revered Shakti deities of Maharashtra.
Because of this sacred connection, Bhogaon Mata is worshipped with the same devotion, fear, and reverence as Tulja Bhavani Mata, and her presence is believed to be equally powerful.

The temple reflects simple traditional village-style architecture, typical of ancient Shakti temples in the Marathwada region.
The sanctum houses the sacred form of Bhogaon Mata, adorned with sindoor, flowers, sarees, and ornaments, symbolizing her fierce yet compassionate motherly nature. The temple atmosphere is calm, powerful, and spiritually uplifting.

The Sthalapurana of Bhogaon Mata is preserved through ancient folk traditions and oral history, passed down through generations rather than written scriptures.

It is believed that the Goddess manifested herself in this region during ancient times when the land and people were suffering from repeated hardships. After her divine presence was established and worship began, the village experienced protection, stability, and prosperity. Since then, Bhogaon Mata has been worshipped as the eternal guardian of the village.

Villagers believe she is a living mother presence, always watching over the community. No major event—such as marriages, agricultural activities, journeys, or new beginnings—is started without first seeking her blessings.
During times of difficulty, people turn to Bhogaon Mata with complete surrender, believing that she guides, protects, and resolves problems.

The most important festival celebrated at Shri Bhogaon Mata Temple is Navratri, during which the temple is beautifully decorated and special pujas, abhishekams, and aarti are performed every day. Devotees visit in large numbers to seek the blessings of the Goddess, believing this period to be highly powerful. Chaitra Navratri is also observed with devotion, marking new beginnings and spiritual renewal.

The annual village jatra is another major event, celebrated with traditional rituals, offerings, and community gatherings. On this occasion, devotees from nearby villages visit the temple, offering coconuts, sarees, bangles, flowers, and naivedya to Bhogaon Mata.
