Hyderabad: In front of a roaring crowd of thousands, Maisram A were crowned champions of the Barkas Football Gold Cup 2025 after edging past arch-rivals Maisram B 2-1 in a high-octane final on Monday.

The electrifying clash brought the tournament to a dramatic close, celebrating not just footballing excellence but also the enduring spirit of the Barkas community.

The champions walked away with a cash prize of ₹30,000, while the valiant runners-up were awarded ₹20,000 for their spirited performance.

Goals from Shaikh Abu Baker and Bawazer sealed the win for Maisram A, despite a fierce challenge from Maisram B, who pulled one back through Ismail Barasheed. The final, played under floodlights and amidst deafening cheers, was a fitting end to a three-day football carnival that saw 16 teams from across the region battle it out in a league-cum-knockout format.

The tournament was organized by Maisram Football Club and sponsored by Habeeb Moshin Al Hamed, the Chairman and Managing Director of Deccan Democratic Sporting Club. Official oversight was provided by Mohammed Mateen of the Telangana Football Association, ensuring the tournament met professional standards.

  • Quarterfinals (May 4):
    • Maisram Star B beat Kanchan Bagh 2-1 (Ismail Barasheed, Awaiz Ali; Vinod Kumar).
    • Maisram Junior Star edged Super Strikers 3-2 (Rasheed Yamani, Hassan Bakulka, Junaid Ali; Ali Zubodi).
    • AC Guard defeated Friends FC via penalties (3-2).
    • Maisram A blanked HCL 2-0 (Bawazer, Abdul Rahman).
  • Semi-Finals:
    • Maisram B defeated Maisram Junior Star 2-1 (Abdullah Brabba, Habeeb Ali; Hassan Bakulka).
    • Maisram advanced after a 2-0 penalty shootout win over AC Guard.
