Time has perhaps ripened for KCR to break his silence, not because Revanth is after him for his strategic reasons, but for sending a stern message to the family members to either mend or end their differences indoors or face stringent action as the party is above family.
It is heart-rending for any father when he gets sandwiched between his son and daughter on one side and a nephew on the other. Let us be fair that all three family members might have been given a push towards the first step of the ladder by KCR, but not beyond that.
We need to be clear in saying that Harish or KTR, or Kavitha, have gone through the grinding themselves, having won people’s hearts individually and emerged as duly elected leaders as MLAs/MPs. All three are liked wholeheartedly for their merit and positive approach, but people would remain helpless if they have differences, as the latter just cannot solve internal issues, more so when it is within the family.
Right now, the mood of the people is that they prefer not to forego either of the three leaders, and KCR has to act either for a peaceful conclusion or a controversial conclusion. Yet, the party will go with whatever KCR decides if he fails to patch up the family differences.
By breaking his silence and showing his assertiveness, KCR should send a message that the party is in his grip or if emotionally weakened by the family members, he should discard it and gracefully retire on health grounds, paving the way for the working president and politbureau of the party to take over and save TRS alias BRS.
KCR should never forget all those grassroots workers who sacrificed their blood and sweat right from the inception of the party. It is understandable when a choice between son and a daughter arises for an emotional father like KCR, but in politics, emotions destroy the party, which he should not afford to keep lakhs of party workers in mind.
He has to take the call as he is privy to every machination that KTR and Kavitha, or even Harish or Santosh Kumar, might have allegedly resorted to. He should call a spade a spade. If he has to act against any family members, so be it in the overall interest of the party. For the past five and a half decades, this writer has been in the know-how of all political parties from close quarters, having worked as an officer in the Lok Sabha Secretariat for a short tenure of three years.
But when TRS emerged, he found this to be a party with a difference, concentrating on development and welfare, and needless to say, it earned the reputation of being authoritative, but that helped in delivering its promises better than any political party in India.
KCR should not allow any of his opponents to rejoice from the differences within the family and the party, and that too within the top part of the hierarchy. People would be hoping and eagerly waiting to know what is in KCR’s mind before the party collapses like nine pins. Since there is already a working president as KTR, KCR should fortify him and move ahead even if he is rubbing on the wrong side for Kavitha.
If the party has to forego Kavitha, albeit unfortunately, so be it. Nothing can be happier if KCR can resolve the differences amicably or take disciplinary action sooner rather than later. Time is running out for BRS as political vultures out there are eagerly waiting for their prey to be poached, and once that happens, BRS will be empty or may transform itself to a new shape like old wine in a new bottle. No party worker likes such an ending.
