Mumbai: Dharmendra is under observation at a Mumbai hospital and is being “continuously monitored”, said wife Hema Malini on Monday, urging well-wishers to pray for the veteran actor’s good health.
“I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in the hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery,” Malini posted on X.
The 89-year-old actor has been in and out of South Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital for several days.
“I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery,” Hema Malini wrote in her post, accompanied by a smiling picture of the legendary actor.
The image shows Dharmendra seated comfortably, dressed in a vibrant shirt and cap, offering a reassuring glimpse to fans who have been anxious since reports of his hospitalisation surfaced.
Soon after Hema’s post, messages of love and well-wishes began pouring in from fans and fellow celebrities across social media. Many expressed relief at hearing that the Sholay star was doing better, while others called him “a true fighter” and “the heart of Indian cinema.”
Dharmendra, affectionately known as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood’, has been one of Indian cinema’s most enduring and beloved icons for over six decades. His timeless charm, humility, and versatility have made him a household name, with classics such as Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Yaadon Ki Baaraat still deeply cherished.
Earlier, Sunny Deol’s team had issued an official statement confirming that the actor was stable and under observation. “Mr. Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. We request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy,” the statement read.
The update brought relief to fans nationwide, who have continued to flood social media with prayers and positive messages.
On the professional front, Dharmendra was last seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), where his touching performance as Kanwal Lund, opposite Shabana Azmi, earned him immense praise. He will next appear in Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis and Arbaaz Khan’s Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se — both of which mark new milestones in the legendary actor’s illustrious career.
