Hyderabad: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch, successfully organized the “Run for Quality” event at Necklace Road, with Malkajgiri Lok Sabha MP Etela Rajendhar as the Chief Guest.
In his opening remarks, Rajendhar highlighted the increasing global recognition of Indian Standards, emphasizing the Government of India’s commitment to eradicating substandard products. He noted that many products now require mandatory BIS certification, and the government’s various initiatives reflect its determination to enhance the nation’s focus on quality.
Rajendhar further urged all citizens to adhere to Indian Standards and prioritize purchasing ISI-marked products. “By choosing quality goods, we contribute to India’s economic growth and development,” he stated, stressing that achieving this goal is a shared national responsibility.
BIS Hyderabad Director & Head, PV Srikanth, underscored the role of individuals in fostering quality consciousness. He encouraged participants to spread awareness about Indian Standards and recommended the BIS CARE App to consumers as a tool for ensuring product quality. “Quality is everyone’s responsibility,” Srikanth remarked, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to build a culture of excellence in the country.
The event saw an impressive turnout of over 600 participants, including representatives from academia, industries, consumer organizations, and government departments. The run, flagged off by Rajendhar, followed the scenic Necklace Road, symbolizing the shared mission of promoting quality.
“Run for Quality” aligns with BIS’s broader goal of promoting standards, conformity assessment, and quality awareness across India. Through events like this, BIS seeks to engage stakeholders and citizens alike, building a nation rooted in quality and excellence.
The event garnered support from several entities, including the Government of Telangana, industry associations, consumer groups, and academic institutions, further solidifying its impact on creating awareness and commitment to national standards.
