Jaipur: “It’s nothing new, we keep running into each other here and there,” says Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor after he shared the stage with Kareena Kapoor Khan at an event here.
On the green carpet of the IIFA Digital Awards on Saturday night, Shahid was quizzed about posing for the shutterbugs with Kareena, his former co-star and partner.
Speaking to the media on the green carpet of the IIFA Digital Awards, Shahid said, “For us, it’s nothing new…aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte (today we met on stage but we keep running into each other here and there) hai but it’s totally normal for us…if people felt nice, it’s nice.”
This wasn’t the first time Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan encountered each other in public. At the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024, Kareena walked past Shahid while he posed with filmmakers Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, popularly known as Raj & DK. While Kareena stopped to greet Raj, she chose to ignore Shahid and walked away. However, Shahid continued to smile throughout the encounter.
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were in a high-profile relationship during the 2000s. They dated for several years before parting ways in 2007. During their time together, they co-starred in multiple films, including Fida, Chup Chup Ke, 36 China Town, Milenge Milenge, and Imtiaz Ali’s cult classic Jab We Met. In an earlier interview with The Times of India, Imtiaz revealed that Shahid and Kareena had broken up towards the end of Jab We Met’s shooting schedule.
Following their breakup, Kareena found love with her now-husband, Saif Ali Khan. The couple tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed their first son, Taimur Ali Khan, in 2016, followed by their second son, Jehangir Ali Khan (Jeh), in February 2021. Shahid, on the other hand, embraced an arranged marriage with Mira Rajput. The couple has two children—daughter Misha Kapoor, born in 2016, and son Zain Kapoor, born in September 2018.
