Kohima: The Nagaland government on Thursday issued an advisory for residents of the northeastern state stranded in violence-hit Nepal, urging them to avoid venturing onto the streets and closely follow safety advisories.
Nepal plunged into a political crisis as Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday in the face of massive protests, prompting the Nepal Army to take over the law and order situation.
“Persons from Nagaland in Nepal are advised to take shelter in their present place of residence, avoid venturing onto the streets, and exercise due caution amid the prevailing unrest,” stated the advisory.
The Nagaland government has issued a safety advisory for residents stranded in Nepal amid political unrest following Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s resignation. Residents are urged to stay indoors, adhere to safety guidelines, and contact provided helplines for support.
The state government has issued emergency/support helpline numbers for any person from Nagaland stranded in Nepal: State Emergency Operation Centre (0370-2291122/ 2291120/ 22291123) and Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Nepal (977-9808602881 /977-981032613). Further, the persons from Nagaland presently in Nepal have been advised to take shelter in their current places of residence, avoid going out onto the streets and exercise all due caution. They have also been advised to follow local safety advisories from Nepal authorities as well as the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
