KCR’s Silence: Strategic Gambit or Risky Gamble?

Kalwakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao’s (KCR) silence has worked out quite effectively in keeping Revanth Reddy, in particular, on tenterhooks so much so that his name comes out by default in every speech of his in public fora. Like Ramajapam, KCR japam too became a norm for Congress leaders wherever they go and speak. Of course, their japam is of a different kind and is never in support but rather followed by the choicest expletives against him. There were many instances when Revanth Reddy provoked KCR in a pungent manner only to elicit replies from KTR, Harish or Kavita and other BRS warriors whom he considers as minions.

But now KCR’s silence seems to be worrying BRS followers also as they are too impatient to see KCR hitting out at the Congress, Revanth in particular. This is because Revanth is singularly and revengefully attacking and targeting only KCR and his family. And at the same time in the process, he seems to be bent upon destroying all the good works he did.

People are bearing the brunt. Maybe its time KCR takes the difficult decision of attending Assembly. He should reconcile to the reality that he has no choice but to face political barbs, and expungable words from Revanth Reddy and co and no ex-CM is free from such diatribe once they are out of power.

KCR should attend the Assembly, see the situation and his silence there also would provoke the Congress leaders to go full blast against him and they would fall into a miserable trap of once again pushing him into total silence and absence as he would be having a strong reason to boycott Assembly clearly as a result of humiliation meted out to him. He will then have a strong reason to not attend the remaining sessions exposing the undemocratic stand taken by the Congress party. His not going to the Assembly may be seen by people as the same attitude and defiance he used to show breaching protocol in case of Governor or PM while he was the CM or not going to the Secretariat during his tenure.

He might have had his own justifiable and strong reasons to do so but people are not that mature to understand his crafty brain of keeping political foes at bay. To thwart this likely suspicion among people, he should respect the Assembly, attend it and then take a call after what transpires there. People would then see that he respects procedures instead of giving the upper hand to the ruling party by his absence.

He may be mocked saying that the lion has been tamed and that like a rabbit he has come to Assembly. Hope wisdom prevails and he is back to his statesmanly posture. Naidu attended, got humiliated and then took a vow to attend only as CM, and that reaped rich political dividends for him to return as CM only. KCR, unlike Naidu, can have his own signature strategy by attending the Assembly in the coming days.
