Whenever Congress is confronted with Rahul Gandhi’s spectacular failures, its spokespersons scramble for the same tired excuse: ‘Don’t compare apples with oranges.’ It is their go-to line whenever someone dares to question how a fifth-generation dynast with a track record of electoral disasters still fancies himself a national leader. But when it comes to attacking India’s pride – be it Team India, Rohit Sharma, or any other national icon – suddenly, comparisons are free-flowing. Congress, it seems, has no problem dragging cricket into politics when it suits its anti-Modi, anti-India agenda.
Shameless body-shaming
The latest disgrace comes courtesy of Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed, who thought it fit to body-shame Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma on the eve of a crucial ICC Championship match. Why? Because in Congress’ twisted worldview, if India is succeeding under Modi’s tenure, it must be undermined – even if it means taking cheap shots at our own sports stars.
It is a pattern we’ve seen before:
When India builds a Ram Mandir, Congress wants to talk about unemployment.
When Maha Kumbh draws global attention, they whine about pollution.
When India excels on the world stage, they nitpick to shift the focus elsewhere.
And now, when Team India is playing brilliantly, they have decided that Rohit Sharma’s weight is somehow relevant to national discourse. Don’t compare apples with oranges.
A calculated attack to demoralise Team India?
This isn’t just an offhand comment – it is a deliberate attempt to rattle India’s captain before a major game, hoping it will shake his confidence and impact his performance. Why? Because Congress cannot stand India’s success in any field while Modi is in charge.
Their strategy is clear:
If India loses, they can spin the narrative of Modi ‘failing’ even in cricket.
If India wins, they will downplay it, just as they have done with G20 successes, economic growth, and cultural milestones.
Though Shama deleted her shameful comment, she refused to apologise. While Congress distanced itself from her remarks, it didn’t reprimand her – perhaps, in reality, she said what many in the party think.
Rahul Gandhi vs. Rohit Sharma
If anyone should be wary of comparisons, it is Rahul Gandhi. While Rohit Sharma has led Team India to multiple victories, Rahul has led Congress to more than 90 electoral defeats, proving that the only thing he has mastered is scoring ducks – both in politics and public appeal
Rohit is self-made, Rahul is dynasty-made. Rohit is respected internationally, and Rahul is mocked globally. Rohit commands his team’s loyalty, Rahul can’t even hold his party together.
Yet, while Pakistani YouTube channels and cricket analysts are heaping praise on Team India, we have Shama and her Congress ecosystem echoing arch rival’s taunts instead. So, who exactly are the real Indians here?
Congress’ self-destruction in action
To make matters worse, Trinamool Congress MP Sougata Ray chimed in to defend Shama, claiming Rohit ‘doesn’t contribute’ to India’s victories. One wonders if Congress and its allies are watching the same tournament as the rest of us – or if their Modi hatred has blinded them to basic reality.
The party that once fought for India’s independence has now become a self-destructive, embittered force that thrives on negativity. They have nothing to offer except blatant lies, petty attacks, manufactured outrage, and misplaced arrogance.
Congress says ‘Don’t compare apples with oranges [or is that cricket balls?]’ when asked about Rahul’s failures. Yet, they are more than happy to drag cricketers, cultural icons, and national achievements into the mud when it serves their agenda.
So, which is it, Congress? Do comparisons matter, or do they not? In this case, comparing Rahul and Rohit only proves one thing – some people earn their place through hard work, while others are born into it and fail spectacularly.
Yes, apples will be apples and oranges will remain oranges. Why make a squash of them?
