DMK working with gusto to ensure voting rights for people: TN CM

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday said his party has worked with determination during the recently concluded SIR exercise, and it continues to work now also to ensure voting rights of the people.

Addressing a Christmas event here, Stalin outlined a slew of welfare initiatives, which include a hike in subsidy for pilgrimage to Jerusalem and the ongoing renovation of St Thomas Mount church at a cost of about Rs 1.49 crore.

New minority welfare hostels have been inaugurated in Chennai and Coimbatore for the welfare of college students and renovation tasks (44 churches and 19 cemeteries) were among the fulfilled initiatives, he said.
