Devipura Balaji Temple is located in Devipura village, near Fatehpur town in the Sikar district of Rajasthan.
The main deity of this temple is Lord Hanuman, also called Balaji in the region. The idol of Lord Hanuman here is made of Ashtadhatu (an alloy of eight metals) and is believed to be swayambhu (self-manifested). Lord Hanuman is worshipped here in a calm and blessing-giving posture, known to remove troubles and fulfill the wishes of his devotees. Devipura Balaji Temple is considered a Siddha Peeth, a place where divine powers are believed to manifest.
The temple has a simple yet elegant Rajasthani architectural style. The sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) houses the idol of Balaji, and the temple walls are adorned with Hanuman-related paintings and sculptures. The temple has been renovated over time but retains its ancient charm and peaceful atmosphere.
According to local lore, approximately 450 years ago, Lord Hanuman’s Ashtadhatu (eight-metal) idol was being transported from Jaipur to another location. During the journey, the entourage halted near a temple dedicated to Lord Rama for the night. The following morning, when attempts were made to move the idol, it remained immovable. A divine voice is believed to emanate from the idol, expressing the desire to remain near Lord Rama. Consequently, the then ruler of Sikar, Raja Devi Singh, ordered the idol to be installed permanently at that spot, leading to the establishment of the Devipura Balaji Temple.
The temple is renowned for its unique traditions and miraculous occurrences. One such tradition involves devotees offering bricks and stones as part of their prayers, symbolizing their faith and seeking blessings. These offerings are believed to lead to the fulfillment of devotees’ desires.
In 2023, the temple gained international recognition by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest ‘rot’ (a traditional sweet flatbread) offered as prasad. This massive offering weighed 2,700 kilograms and was prepared with the assistance of machinery and numerous artisans. The event attracted over 25,000 devotees who partook in the distribution of the prasad.
The main festival celebrated at Devipura Balaji Temple is Hanuman Jayanti, which marks the birth of Lord Hanuman and is observed with great devotion and enthusiasm. On this day, thousands of devotees gather at the temple to offer special prayers, chant Hanuman Chalisa, and participate in devotional singing (bhajans). Apart from Hanuman Jayanti, Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered especially auspicious, and the temple sees a large number of visitors on these days seeking blessings and relief from obstacles.
