Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto, or Sankalp Patra, ahead of the assembly polls.
Shah said the saffron party’s government in West Bengal would implement a ‘detect. delete and deport’ policy against infiltrators across the state.
Shah also announced that the BJP government would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the first six months after coming to power. The BJP government would also launch a crackdown on cattle smuggling if it comes to power in West Bengal.
West Bengal is going to the polls in two phases – 23 and 29 April. The results will be declared on 4 May. The election is perceived as a bipolar contest between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“Today, the Bharatiya Janata Party has just released its manifesto for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. This manifesto provides a path to overcome the deep despair prevailing across all sections of Bengal. It offers a new direction for farmers facing uncertainty due to crop losses, unemployed youth, and women living in fear. It also gives renewed hope and confidence to every citizen concerned about Bengal’s culture and its pride,” Shah said, releasing the manifesto.
Shah also said that the BJP will implement the seventh pay commission for government employees in the state if it comes to power.
Here is a list of promises in the BJP manifesto for West Bengal:
1-Crackdown on infiltration to ensure national security. Detect, delete and deport policy.
2-White paper exposing 15 years of TMC corruption and breakdown of law and order.
3-End syndicate activities, curtailing ‘cut money’ culture.
4-Ensure DA for all govt employees and pensioners, implement 7th Pay commission.
5-One crore new jobs and self-employment opportunities over five years, and a financial aid of ₹3000 to every unemployed youth.
6-Women’s safety and empowerment with women-only police battalions, Durga Surokha Squads, 33 per cent reservation for women in state jobs.
7- ₹3,000 monthly financial support to women
8-Include Kurmail and Rajbongsho languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
9-Support for rice, potato, and mango cultivation
10-Registration of all fishermen under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, Make West Bengal a leading industrial and fish-exporting hub to boost the economy.
11-Legislation to implement the Uniform Civil Code, a strict law to stop cattle smuggling.
12-Rejuvenate old tea gardens, strengthen Darjeeling Tea branding, and modernise the jute industry.
13- Implement Ayushnan Bharat Yojana along with all Centre Government schemes, free HPV vaccinations, breast cancer screening, and AIIMS, IIT, and IIM in North Bengal.
14- Establish a Vande Mataram museum.
15-Enact a law ensuring freedom of religious practices.
