Celebrating Srivari Shravana Thiru Nakshtra

Dr Sandhyaa Bombay

This radiant Saturday, the 9th of this month, we come together to joyfully celebrate the divine birth of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy, illuminated by the enchanting glow of the full moon in Shravan. The full moon symbolizes the peak of spiritual energy, and the Shravana Nakshatra—a constellation associated with auspicious beginnings—adds a celestial touch to our celebration. Adorned by the twinkling stars of Shravana, let our hearts be filled with devotion as we embark on a vibrant journey of joy, reverence, and unity. Join us in celebrating this divine birth—an embodiment of spirituality and faith, creating cherished memories that will shine bright in our hearts.

As the skies unite in a celestial dance, we invite you to partake in a sacred ritual—a ceremony where we offer our prayers and devotion to the Lord. Whether you’re on the vibrant Maada Veedi or in a quiet corner of the world, the pull of sacred temples is irresistible. Here, the air is filled with the sweet aroma of faith and the quiet promise of grace.

We gather with hearts overflowing with love, offering fragrant holy basil leaves, each softly echoing our deepest adoration for the Lord. Let us immerse ourselves in this beautiful expression of spirit and communal harmony. It is not always grand gestures that touch the heart of our beloved Govinda. Whether it’s the floral allure of aromatic garlands or the sincere humility of folded hands, what truly matters is the intention behind the offering. It is that intention which guides our spirit toward the divine.

As we unite in spirit and celebration, let us be uplifted by the powerful vibrations of the Lord’s revered names:

Om Namo Venkatesaya – a salutation to Lord Venkateshwara,
Om Namo Narayanaya – a salutation to Lord Narayana,
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya – a salutation to Lord Vasudeva.

These chants are not mere utterances, but a sacred journey that draws us closer to His divine essence. No matter where life takes us, let these mantras echo within, igniting a sense of connection and presence that uplifts our souls and elevates our consciousness.

In a world captivated by transient icons, let us shift our gaze to the timeless essence of grace and virtue—Lord Venkateswara. On this blessed birth anniversary, we invite everyone to embody humility and devotion, cultivating a spirit of wholehearted surrender to the divine. Let us honor His enduring legacy of compassion and love, and draw inspiration to walk in His footsteps, with unwavering faith and purpose.

As we come together on this joyous day, let our hearts overflow with gratitude—a chorus of voices rising in celebration. This occasion is more than a birthday; it is a heartfelt tribute that unites us on our spiritual paths. Together, let us shine as beacons of hope in a world yearning for divine connection. May this sacred moment inspire us, uplift us, and remain etched in our hearts as a memory to cherish for a lifetime. – Excerpted from Patnala Datattreya.  (The author is former Assistant Professor at Bhavan’s College and devout of Namo Venkatesaya)
