BRS leader Rama Rao sends legal notice to MoS Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao has sent a legal notice to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for allegedly making false and defamatory comments that the former consumes drugs and was involved in ‘phone tapping’ when BRS was in power.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the BRS leader said the remarks made by the union minister during a press conference on October 19 were baseless and show the latter’s intention to tarnish his reputation.

He said he would be constrained to initiate legal action if Kumar fails to tender an unconditional apology within a week.

In the legal notice, KTR expressed outrage, stating that these accusations were fabricated with malicious intent to damage his reputation. “Bandi Sanjay’s remarks are not just false, but they also aim to lower my public standing and tarnish my character,” KTR stated, dismissing the claims as politically motivated.

KTR challenged Bandi Sanjay to provide evidence supporting these allegations, warning that making defamatory claims without proof would have legal consequences. He emphasised that the statements were not only untrue but also a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. The legal notice also highlighted that the remarks had been widely circulated in the media and on social platforms, further damaging KTR’s image.

KTR, who has served five terms as an MLA and as a minister for nine years, strongly denied all allegations related to drug use and phone tapping. He noted that Bandi Sanjay, as a Union Minister, holds a position of responsibility and should not make false claims to serve a political agenda.

KTR demanded a public retraction of the statements and an apology. He warned that if Sanjay fails to comply, he will move forward with defamation and criminal proceedings against him
