Hyderabad: The BJP Telangana unit strongly criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s rally against industrialist Gautam Adani, labelling it as a “political drama” orchestrated under directives from the Congress high command.
The rally, held from the Telangana Thalli statue near the Secretariat to Raj Bhavan, aimed to submit a memorandum demanding action against Adani following his alleged indictment by a New York court.
State BJP spokesperson N.V. Subash accused Revanth Reddy of hypocrisy, questioning the government’s acceptance of a ₹100 crore donation from Adani for the proposed Skill University. “If Adani’s actions are under scrutiny, has the Chief Minister returned the ₹100 crore his government received, as promised? Has the state cancelled Adani’s proposed investments? These are questions Revanth Reddy must answer,” Subash said.
The BJP also dismissed the Congress’s stance as “uninformed,” alleging that the party had failed to understand the details of the so-called indictment. Subash pointed out that Adani’s response—withdrawing funding from a financial institution allegedly linked to billionaire George Soros—contradicted the Congress’s narrative. He urged Revanth Reddy to educate himself on the latest developments instead of staging “meaningless” protests.
“Blindly following orders from the high command without grasping the facts only makes the Chief Minister a subject of ridicule in the eyes of the public,” Subash remarked. He criticized the rally as a futile exercise, suggesting that the Chief Minister’s recent actions resemble a ‘comedy of errors.’
The BJP’s response reflects growing tensions between the state’s political parties, with allegations of double standards and mismanagement dominating the discourse. As the controversy unfolds, the focus remains on the Chief Minister’s next steps regarding Adani’s investments and the Congress’s broader strategy against the industrialists.
