Army Officer Breaks New Ground as SSP Training & Special Ops in JKP

Jammu: In a first, the Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government has accorded sanction to the appointment of Army Officer Colonel Vikrant Prashar from Para High Altitude Warfare School Gulmarg, as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Training and Special Operations, Jammu and Kashmir Police.

This move comes amid ongoing efforts to enhance counter-insurgency measures and operational efficiency in J&K.

The officer is presently posted at High Warfare School Gulmarg and has been brought on deputation.

Colonel Prashar, a decorated officer with extensive experience in counter-terrorism operations, is expected to bring his military expertise to this pivotal role, officials said.

His appointment is being seen as a strategic step to further bolster the police’s capabilities in handling sensitive security challenges, especially in the context of the volatile situation in J&K.

Sources in the Police said that Colonel Prashar’s experience in conducting special operations and his familiarity with J&K’s security landscape will be an asset in designing effective training programmes and leading high-stakes operations.

His role will focus on improving the tactical proficiency of the Police force and ensuring seamless coordination between security agencies, particularly in areas where militancy is active.
