Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday applauded the Union Cabinet’s decision to increase the minimum support price (MSP) for six Rabi crops for the 2026-27 marketing season.
Talking to X, the chief minister said the decision taken under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “commendable” and reflects the government’s commitment to bringing “positive change in the lives of the farmers”.
Adityanath termed the MSP hike a “gift” to the farmers, timed perfectly on the auspicious occasion of Maha Navami, and just before the major festivals of Dussehra and Diwali.
In a post on ‘X’, the CM said, “PM Narendra Modi, who is constantly dedicated to the welfare of farmers, has led the agriculture sector toward continuous progress under his firm leadership. The decision taken by the Union Cabinet to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi crops—wheat, barley, gram, lentil, rapeseed, mustard, and safflower—for the Rabi marketing season 2025-26 is highly commendable.”
He added that this decision would bring positive changes to the lives of farmers and encourage them to invest more in the agricultural sector.
The CM also praised the Union Cabinet’s decision to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, which would result in a 3% rise in basic salaries and pensions.
In his post, the CM thanked the PM for this gift to central government employees during the festive season. He also expressed appreciation for the Union Cabinet’s decision to approve the construction of a rail-and-road bridge over the Ganga River in Varanasi. The CM said that under PM Modi’s leadership, Varanasi was achieving new levels of development.
