AAP promises action against Kejriwal’s PA for misbehaving with party’s lady MP

New Delhi: A day after Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal was allegedly assaulted by Arvind Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday called the incident “condemnable” and said the Delhi Chief Minister will take “strict action” in the case.

Maliwal had called the Police Control Room (PCR) on Monday morning, alleging that she had been attacked by Kumar at the CM House on Kejriwal’s instruction, a daily diary entry shows. The Delhi Police said she then went to the Civil Lines police station but did not file an official complaint.

On Tuesday, Singh, who is also a Rajya Sabha  MP, said, “Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. I want to tell you about it. Swati Maliwal reached the house of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday morning. She was waiting for him in the drawing room when Bibhav Kumar came there and misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognizance of the entire incident and he will take strict action. As far as Swati Maliwal is concerned, she has done a lot for society and the country. She is a senior leader of the party. We are all with her,” he said.

The National Commission for Women took suo motu cognizance of the media reports regarding the incident and sought an action taken report from the Delhi Police commissioner within three days.

Her association with Kejriwal as well as Bibhav Kumar predates the formation of the AAP and even the India Against Corruption movement, when they worked together in the Public Cause Research Foundation, the NGO co-founded by Kejriwal.
