Vishwanath’s ‘The Enlightened Manager’ launched at T-Hub

Hyderabad: The book The Enlightened Manager – A Transformative Approach to Work and Life by Vishwanath with Harry Eyres was released at T-Hub here on Monday. The title, published by HarperCollins, seeks to present a fresh way of looking at management as a dynamic and evolving practice.

Vish, who has spent decades as a business manager before devoting himself to disseminating the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurthy, underlined that his approach to the subject avoids jargon that could alienate contemporary readers. ‘Management is a living process, it is not static,’ he said, adding that he had deliberately steered clear of terms such as ‘spirituality’ and ‘meditation’. ‘These words are very dangerous, they can put younger people off,’ he said, noting that he had discussed this stance at length with co-author Eyres.

A HarperCollins representative described the book as one that rewards attentive reading. ‘This may be easy to read, but certainly not easy to understand in one reading,’ he said, commending Vish for his long career in business and his work in spreading Krishnamurthy’s message worldwide. He also stressed the value of cultivating a reading habit: ‘We can stimulate our brain muscles by keeping mobile phones away and reading a book for at least half an hour.’

The launch was preceded by a panel discussion featuring T-Hub CEO Kavikrit and Darwinbox co-founder Rohit Chennamaneni, moderated by Sateesh Andra, Managing Director at Endiya Partners and a member of the Darwinbox board.

Taking up a question on whether the word management is a static noun or best seen as a verb in motion, Rohit said growth invariably brings change. ‘As the company grows, a lot of things around us also change. To strike a balance we need to evolve as we grow,’ he said. ‘Thankfully, we named our company as we stand for. That keeps reminding us that we need to evolve.’
