SITHA App Launched to Empower Women Through Gig Economy

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government today formally launched the SITHA App, a gig-based platform aimed at empowering women by offering flexible, skill-based earning opportunities. The launch was led by  Minister for IT, Industries, and Legislative Affairs, Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Developed by Ms. Swathi Nelabhatla, founder of SheJobs, the SITHA App is envisioned as a tool to promote financial independence among women without compromising family responsibilities. “SITHA is more than an app — it’s a movement,” she said, stressing the need to convert women’s skills into sustainable livelihoods.

The launch event, held at Trident Hyderabad, saw participation from U.S.-based entrepreneur and philanthropist Jhansi Reddy Hanumandla and Sarita Venkatesh, Global Head of Mobility at Wipro.

“It is a privilege to launch this app among women who are real changemakers,” Minister Sridhar Babu said, highlighting the importance of creating a society where women no longer have to choose between dreams and duties.

Film director Harish Shankar and actress-entrepreneur Sree Leela also attended, voicing support for the initiative.
