Rohit Sharma Spotted Crying After India’s Convincing Win Over England in T20 World Cup Semi-final?

Guyana: Rohit Sharma wears his emotions on his sleeves, and for the die-hard Indian cricket fans, there probably are no more heart-breaking images other than a distraught Rohit Sharma during the 2019 World Cup semi-final. In the 2022 T20 World Cup,

Rohit could not hold back his emotions after a defeat at the hand of England in Adelaide. Still, two years on, India turned the table on England and handed the reigning champions an absolute pasting in Guyana to reach the final of the biennial event. The reaction of the skipper Rohit Sharma was one to be noticed.

After India beat England by 68 runs, cameras spotted Rohit Sharma sitting outside the Indian changing room, almost on the verge of tears even as his teammates, including Virat Kohli, went up to him to congratulate him on the win. Ravi Shastri, on air, said it was relief on Rohit Sharma’s face.

Rohit is first seen griming as if trying to hold back his tears, but when Virat Kohli approaches him for a high-five, Rohit comes to his face even as Kohli, seemingly, tries to console him.

Rohit was India’s main man once again, leading the charge with a 39-ball 57 as India posted 171/7 after a lengthy rain delay at the Providence Stadium Guyana. On a slow wicket that was turning, India was above par by at least 15 runs, but England never got going in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals and succumbing to the Indian spinners in no time. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav combined to pick six wickets between them, giving away just 42 runs in eight overs.

After the match, Rohit expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. “It’s very satisfying to win this game. We’ve worked really hard as a unit to come through this stage, and to win this game like that was a great effort from everybody. Our unity and collective effort were the key to our success.”

“I thought we adapted to the conditions well. The conditions were a little challenging. We had to adapt, and that’s been the success story for us so far. Until this game, we have adapted to the conditions well. We’ve played the conditions well. And then the bowlers and the batters, if they understand the conditions and play according to them, things fall into place, and that’s exactly what happened for us today. Very pleasing to see how we came through this game,” said Rohit.
