PM Modi to visit Udupi’s Sri Krishna Math

Udupi (Karnataka): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Udupi’s historic Sri Krishna Math on Friday.

According to officials, the Prime Minister will participate in the “Laksha Geeta Pathana”, a mass recitation in which more than one lakh devotees will chant verses from the Bhagavad Gita.

He is also expected to offer prayers at the Sri Krishna temple and receive blessings from the presiding Paryaya Swamiji.

As per his itinerary, the Prime Minister will hold a roadshow in Udupi on November 28. According to BJP district president Kutyaru Naveen Shetty, the roadshow is set to begin at 11.40 am from Narayanaguru Circle in Bannanje and proceed up to Kalsanka Junction.

Cultural events representing coastal Karnataka traditions, such as Yakshagana, tiger dance troupes, and Krishna-themed performers, will take place along the route. Barricades will be erected on one side of the road, and the party expects around 30,000 people to line the route to greet the prime minister.

According to the BJP minister, people have been instructed to take their positions along the Bannanje-Kalsanka route by 10.30 am.

After the roadshow, PM Modi is scheduled to visit the historic Sri Krishna Math around noon, where he will participate in rituals and address the public.

According to Paryaya Puttige Math seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji, PM Modi will attend the Laksha Kantha Geetha Parayana (one lakh voice Gita chanting) and inaugurate the newly erected Suvarna Teertha Mantapa during his visit.

“He will first offer floral tributes to saint-poet Kanakadasa and then unveil the golden covering placed over the Kanakana Kindi,” the Swami said.

The Prime Minister will be greeted with a poorana kumbha (traditional honour) and will have the darshan of Lord Sri Krishna, Mukhyaprana Devaru, and Suvarna Paduke.

His visit also includes stops at the Sarvajna Peetha, the Goshala and the Gita Mandira. Later, he will participate in the public programme and recite selected concluding verses from the 18th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita during the mass chanting event.

“After the recitation, the Paryaya Puttige Math will honour the Prime Minister. He will also receive initiation for the Koti Geetha Lekhana Yajna (one crore Gita writing initiative),” the seer said.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra, MPs Kota Srinivas Poojary and Brijesh Chowta, as well as district MLAs and top state leaders, are also expected to be at the event.

In view of Modi’s visit on Friday, the Udupi district administration has declared a holiday for educational institutions up to high school in Udupi Town, Malpe and Manipal police station limits.

Following the programme in the city, he will return to Mangaluru Airport at 2:10 pm and then travel to Goa. In the South Goa district, he will unveil a 77-feet-tall bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt on Thursday.
